Jamf
The Sumo Logic app for Jamf provides IT and security analysts with comprehensive visibility into their organization's Jamf-managed Apple device environment. This app facilitates real-time monitoring of inventory, activity, and management-related metrics across devices. It tracks key security and compliance indicators such as supervised devices, unencrypted disks, expired certificates, and software vulnerabilities. With its powerful dashboards, analysts can identify and address potential risks like unapproved software, failed policies, or devices with harmful applications. The app offers detailed visualizations of device statuses, geographic trends, and audit events, enabling efficient detection and investigation of anomalies. By integrating seamlessly with Jamf, this app empowers organizations to enforce security policies, ensure compliance, and maintain an optimized device fleet.
This app includes built-in monitors. For details on creating custom monitors, refer to the Create monitors for Jamf app.
Log typesโ

Set up collectionโ
Follow the instructions provided to set up Cloud-to-Cloud Integration for Jamf Source to create the source and use the same source category while installing the app. By following these steps, you can ensure that your Jamf app is properly integrated and configured to collect and analyze your Jamf data.
Installing the Jamf appโ
To install the app, do the following:
- Select App Catalog.
- In the ๐ Search Apps field, run a search for your desired app, then select it.
- Click Install App.
note
Sometimes this button says Add Integration.
- Click Next in the Setup Data section.

- Key. Select either of these options for the data source.
- Choose Source Category and select a source category from the list for Default Value.
- Choose Custom, and enter a custom metadata field. Insert its value in Default Value.
- Key. Select either of these options for the data source.
- Click Next. You will be redirected to the Preview & Done section.
Post-installation
Once your app is installed, it will appear in your Installed Apps folder, and dashboard panels will start to fill automatically.
Each panel slowly fills with data matching the time range query and received since the panel was created. Results will not immediately be available, but will update with full graphs and charts over time.
Viewing the Jamf dashboardsโ
All dashboards have a set of filters that you can apply to the entire dashboard. Use these filters to drill down and examine the data to a granular level.
- You can change the time range for a dashboard or panel by selecting a predefined interval from a drop-down list, choosing a recently used time range, or specifying custom dates and times. Learn more.
- You can use template variables to drill down and examine the data on a granular level. For more information, see Filtering Dashboards with Template Variables.
- Most Next-Gen apps allow you to provide the scope at the installation time and are comprised of a key (
_sourceCategory
by default) and a default value for this key. Based on your input, the app dashboards will be parameterized with a dashboard variable, allowing you to change the dataset queried by all panels. This eliminates the need to create multiple copies of the same dashboard with different queries.
Inventory Overviewโ
The Jamf - Inventory Overview dashboard provides a comprehensive summary of the organization's Apple device inventory. It tracks total devices, their management statuses, and critical security metrics like unencrypted disks, expired certificates, and devices with firewalls off. Analysts can visualize device distribution by platform, monitor geolocation trends, and detect vulnerable or embargoed devices. The dashboard highlights devices with expiring certificates, recently enrolled configurations, and unencrypted disks, offering actionable insights to maintain security and compliance. Additionally, it tracks the top OS versions, licensed software, and recent software updates to ensure devices stay up-to-date and secure.
Activity Overviewโ
The Jamf - Activity Overview dashboard focuses on monitoring command and application statuses, policy executions, and user activity. It highlights the top completed, pending, and failed commands, as well as devices with frequent command or application failures. Analysts can explore trends in policy failures over time, identify devices with problematic screen-sharing events, and monitor Casper Remote and Imaging events. This dashboard provides critical insights into operational issues, enabling timely resolution of failed policies, commands, and application installations to ensure seamless device management.
Management Overviewโ
The Jamf - Management Overview dashboard delivers an in-depth view of management configurations across the organization's device fleet. It tracks unique configured OS profiles, policies, restricted software, and harmful applications. Analysts can identify devices running outdated software versions or those impacted by harmful profiles or applications. The dashboard also provides a detailed breakdown of management policies, top apps, and OS configuration profiles, ensuring that administrators maintain an optimized and secure management environment.
